Relocating to Miami After Retirement

My husband’s retirement is quickly approaching and we have been discussing the possibility of relocating to the Miami, FL area to be closer to our children and grandkids. We already have a trip planned in two weeks to visit our family there and have decided to secretly look for apartments in Miami Beach. We want this to be a surprise for our children since they have been hinting at it for the last two years. It’s going to be a little difficult to get away on our own while we are there but I know we’ll come up with some sort of excuse.

In the meantime, we wanted to do a little research before we got there so we had a least one or two places to look at. An apartment is a must for the mere fact that we don’t want to have to worry about the maintenance and upkeep of a house. It’s time we let somebody else worry about that. We also want a place where the grandkids can swim when they come to stay with us. My kids don’t know it yet but I plan on doing a lot of babysitting. It’s one of the perks of being a grandma.

We found one bay front apartment community that looks really good to us. They have three bedroom apartments, which is what we want. I like the idea of a private balcony to relax on and enjoy our morning coffee or evening cocktail. My husband will still be able to cook out since they have community grills. The apartments have stainless steel appliances and a washer and dryer. That is a big plus in my book. We have decided this is going to be the first place we look at as soon as we can sneak away from our kids.
